Hantavirus pandemic in 2026?

Decided by

The market resolves "Yes" if WHO explicitly calls Hantavirus, HPS, HFRS, or a Hantavirus-related outbreak a "pandemic" in an official public communication.§1

PHEIC alone

A Public Health Emergency of International Concern alone does not qualify unless it is also described as a pandemic.§4

What counts as explicit

Official WHO statements, reports, press briefings, or publications that clearly describe the outbreak as a "pandemic" count.§3

Otherwise

Otherwise, the market resolves to "No".§2

Counted

The market counts Hantavirus, Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS), Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome (HFRS), or a Hantavirus-related outbreak.§1

Source

The primary resolution source is official WHO communications; a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.§5
